Stage Flash - SS4 Viana do Castelo 1

22 maio 2015

Car 1, Ogier/Ingrassia
“It’s one of the worst stages I’ve ever driven. No grip at all. Compared to the guys a few cars behind it’s anything but easy.”

Car 2, Latvala/Anttila
“It was a big push, it was a great, great stage. For sure there was a lot of gravel, but we had to push.”

Car 3, Meeke/Nagle
“I was looking at Andreas’s tyres and the weren’t as bad as mine. The road is clearing quite a lot. It’s going to be interesting what people do on the second pass. I think this is going to be won or lost on tyre choice.”

Car 4, Ostberg/Andersson
“It was a difficult stage. I feel I lack a bit of experience on opening the road. I have some lines from Seb, but I need to get a better feeling. It was very difficult, I saw the lines and tried to follow them. I need to learn more about road cleaning and use that.”

Car 5, Evans/Barritt
“We had a throttle response problem that we still havn’t sorted, but we’ve managed to get the car running and keep it running. Pace notes aren’t so bad.”

Car 6, Tanak/Molder
“We were really nursing them through the first two stages. The pace notes are much better.”

Car 7, Neuville/Gilsoul
“We’re the only one with the hard tyres, we have to save them for tomorrow. I’ll probably lose a bit too much time today. But then there’s tomorrow, so we’ll have to see what we can do and just get through today and then take on what tomorrow brings.”

Car 8, Sordo/Marti
“The grip was nothing. I drove a bit carefully in the second stage because I wanted to save the tyres for this stage. They’re finished now. I’m happy with the car. We’re over the problems we had in the first stage.”

Car 9, Mikkelsen/ Floene
“I think we will lose a lot of time. I’m trying my best. It’s a really tricky stage. The gravel makes it so slippery. We had a good drive. I’m happy with my morning. We’re very much on the pace. We have a good feeling.”

Car 14, Kubica/ Szczepaniak
Puncture on front right, rim badly damaged
“We had a puncture, we didn’t hit anything. The wheel is damaged from driving on it. We had a small off, but that’s because we were driving on the puncture.”

Car 20, Paddon/Kennard
“We’ve been managing tyres a lot. We tend to get a lot more wear than the others. We had a bit more confidence in this stage though, so we could push on.”

Car 21, Prokop/Tománek
“It’s all fixed, it’s working, no problem with the brakes. I need to get better driving this new car.”

Car 32, Lefebvre/Prevot
“It’s okay, I had a problem with the engine. But it’s okay. I’m going to get it back to check it.”

Car 36, Krudda/Järveoja
“I was driving like my grandmother, but she drives very fast. I’ve been driving on the edge. The pace notes have been good. We’ve been avoiding all the big rocks.”

Car 37, Bertelli/Bernacchini
“It’s been okay, we’re happy with the way the car has performed. The pace notes are okay.”

Car 40, Ketomaa/Lindstrom
Front-left suspension bent, tracking off.
“The car want’s to go that way, but I wasn’t doing that with the steering. I have no idea what it’s done. I just hope I can get it back to service.”

Car 41, Fuchs/ Mussano
“We had a problem in the morning with the brakes. Then we had a problem on this stage too. Just need to get back to service.”

Car 42, Al-Attiyah/Baumel
“We had a good run, all three stages without any problems or any risk. We’ll try and improve and change things for the second loop. We’re a bit soft with the cars, we need to try and make them more precise for the next loop.”

Car 43, Tidemand/Axelsson
“We lost the brakes completely on this stage, but other than that it’s working well. Started in the middle and now they’re completely gone. It’s all about learning!”

Car 44, Kremer/Winklhofer
“It was very difficult, we didn’t have the right tyres. We had no traction on the road. The times at the moment are okay though.”

Car 47, Gorban/Korsia
“On the second stage we had a puncture. We changed to the spare and not it’s okay. They were very tricky stages, but this is a good stage.”

Car 49, Hirschi/Landais
“It was really difficult. We lost some time. I made no mistakes, no punctures, we just need to carry on and get things back to normal.”

Car 72, Sousa/Magalhães
“Not so bad, tried to get the best rhythm. Hancook tyres performing well. ”

Car 74, Koci/Kostka
“Since the beginning we have had a problem with the intercom, despite changing it three times.”

Car 75, Al-Kuwari/Clarke
“We overshot a 90, but other than that I was driving okay. The car is okay after yesterday. The tyres don’t last long.”
