Stage Flash - SS16 Fafe 2

24 maio 2015

Car 1, Ogier/Ingrassia
“I know that it’s a happy day for many people. This weekend is not about winning, but it’s still about winning.”

Car 2, Latvala/Anttila
“The run I have had on the last three rallies, nobody thought I would be able to come back! It’s been one of the most difficult experiences. Three rallies with no points, now to come and win, that’s incredible. Seb was suffering early on with road position, but he did well yesterday and today. I couldn’t take maximum risk yesterday because of the tyres, but I had to try and push a bit. I appreciate and respect this victory. There are people the work with me and follow me so it’s important for them.”

Car 3, Meeke/Nagle
“You can’t in every weekend. We tired this weekend, the confidence was good, the car has been incredible. We got close yesterday, we were within 6 seconds. We need to learn more about tyre management. It’s a shame about that breakage this morning because that took us out of the challenge.”

Car 4, Ostberg/Andersson
“No, it’s not enough. Sordo has been very fast on this stage before. I did my best today though, so I’m pleased. I fought as hard as I could, it’s been a great weekend.”

Car 5, Evans/Barritt
“It’s not been the debut we wanted to the car, a difficult weekend. I made a silly mistake yesterday, but after that the feeling was pretty good. We’ve just got to move forward now.”

Car 6, Tanak/Molder
“We’ve really enjoyed it. We haven’t been pushing at all, just having a good rhythm. No problems with the car, the car has been brilliant. We can get more out of the car. We need a few more rallies like this.”

Car 7, Neuville/Gilsoul
“It was a very bad weekend for us. We have to come back stronger. I struggled quite a lot myself. I know where I can improve. The team has been amazing. We’ll come back strong in Sardinia.”

Car 8, Sordo/Marti
“It was a very nice stage, I’m happy. Yesterday was not so good, but it was a little bit better. We have to do some small things with the car and the way we do pace notes. We’ll see where we are next rally.”

Car 9, Mikkelsen/ Floene
“It’s a great result, my first event with the new car. Things I have to get used to still, but I have to say, what a machine Volkswagen has built. Incredible.”

Car 12, Al Qassimi/ Patterson
“It’s not about the jump, it’s just about the section. We made a bit of a show with lots of drifting for the fans. It’s been difficult as one of the first cars on the road. On the second loop we’re cleaning in a different way, but it was good, a lot of new experiences.”

Car 14, Kubica/ Szczepaniak
“After landing we had an alarm, but it’s all okay hopefully! It’s been good, but we had not a lot of experience with the Pirelli tyres. It’s been a good weekend.”

Car 20, Paddon/Kennard
“It hasn’t been a bad weekend, we’ve been more competitive than in the past. We know there’s a lot more to come, there’s more I can do with my driving too. Huge thanks to the team over the weekend, too. They’ve done great work.”

Car 21, Prokop/Tománek
“It was better and better, I’m finally happy with the car. Over the last two weeks it’s been a lot of work. I’ve got a good feel, we’ve got to the end with the car in one piece. We’ll come back well for Sardinia.”

Car 32, Lefebvre/Prevot
“I’m happy to finish this one. It’s a good experience for me.”

Car 36, Kruuda/ Järveoja
“It wasn’t my weekend. Hopefully it’ll be better in Sardinia. Today all the emotions are together, we had problems with penalties and dust. I’ve made appeals, it must be bad karma. The stages are brilliant fun though, driving the jumps is sensational.”

Car 41, Fuchs/ Mussano
“Happy with the finish. I lost a lot of time on Friday.”

Car 42, Al-Attiyah/Baumel
“I’m so, so happy. This rally is so special. There are a lot of people and a lot of competitors. We were doing a different strategy and we are so happy to win.”

Car 43, Tidemand/Axelsson
“We’re really happy, better than we expect. We got a lot of experience for the team and for the car. It’s just gone to plan. We had some damage and breakages, but the car is tough and it coped well.”

Car 44, Kremer/Winklhofer
“It was fine, it’s nice to drive. We must look for the potential for the car and for me, we need to try and find that for the next race in Sardinia.”

Car 45, Shaymiev/Tsvetkov
“I’m so happy, it was a great experience for us!”

Car 47, Gorban/Korsia
“It was a good, good drive It was very difficult, with some difficult stages. For us to finish was good. We’re looking forward to Sardinia.”

Car 60, Gilbert/Jamoul
“It was a good event. I want to thank the team and the mechanics and everyone for all the hard work this weekend. We have a big gap from the other drivers now.”

Car 62, Haapamaki/Salminen
“It is quite rough, but I like the jumps. This car’s not very good at it though! I used my head this time though, I drove safely.”

Car 65, Loubet/Bellotto
“I’m really happy, I can’t imagine that I got here. It’s my first rally on gravel and my second ever, this is an amazing result.”

Car 70, Lappi/Ferm
“Okay, we showed our speed for sure. It’s a new car, it’s part of the game, we made it to the finish. It’s good to be back.”

Car 71, Parn/Morgan
“At least we finished this rally, it was very difficult for me. We had some problems, some bad luck, but at least we didn’t retire. We coped with our problems. We lost brakes, we broke our front left compressions strut. Thanks to my co-driver, James Morgan, who has good mechanical skills. It’s not a great result, but we finished.”

Car 73, Maurin/Klinger
“In the start, top 5 was a great result, so this is perfect. Last year we never did a gravel rally, so this is a great result. We’re looking forward to Sardinia now.”

Car 75, Al-Kuwari/Clarke
“It was a very difficult rally. I’m happy to finish 6th, it could be better, but we struggled with tyres. We had some good stage times. I was being consistent. Sardinia will be more difficult than here, it will be tough for the car, it won’t be easy.”
