Growing economic impact

15 março 2013

The Vodafone rally de Portugal has been generating one of the largest economic impacts among all the competitions held in the country, and it has been the most important sports event in Portugasl since the Euro 2004.
With the revenue numbers presenting a constant and consistent growth, the ACP Motosport event was responsible for an economic impact of 97,748 million Euros in 2012, five more than in 2011 and an increase of 12 million when compared to the 2010 edition.
The WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal not only contributes to promoting a very positive image for the country, particularly for the area where it’s held, but also extends the touristic season in time, besides attracting a larger demand for the region. In fact, and according to a study made by Universidade do Algarve, the 2012 event attracted a live audience of about half a million people.
“The relevance of the WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal for the country, in particular for the Baixo Alentejo and Algarve regions, is clear. Last year the Rally generated a very significant economic impact, with fans spending almost 53 thousand Euros, and the national and international media spending around 45,000 Euros,” explains ACP President Carlos Barbosa.
“These numbers not only very strongly contribute to the maintenance of our sponsors, but they are also very attractive to encourage new partners to join us. This year, despite the serious economic and financial crisis we are living, I believe the WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal will keep on growing in terms of its economic impact.”
