Eight registered teams and 13 cars in WRC

The FIA has announced an eighth team has been registered for the 2013 world rally championship, the “Volkswagen Motorsport II” team.  This is a prelude to the entry of a third official VW team car in WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal and the remaining rounds of the series, to be driven by Andreas Mikkelsen.

With the three full two-car Manufacturer teams from Citroen, M-Sport and VW now come five second-level WRC teams.  These comprised teams from M-Sport and Lotos which can run as either one-car or two-car teams and one-car teams from Citroen, Jipocar and VW.
