Stage Flash - SS11 Santa Clara 2

05 abril 2014

Car 1, Ogier/Ingrassia
“I had a good drive, it was quite dry so a bit aggressive for tyres so I tried to drive clean to save the tyres. We’ll see if the tyres are right for the loop.”

Car 2, Latvala/Anttila
“I think it’s a puncture, it came at mid point. About 10k in we felt something strange. We only have one spare [front right tyre visibly down on pressure]”

Car 4, Ostberg/Anderson
“I forgot to think about my strategy. For the moment we are just driving and trying to do something clever for tomorrow. We’re using our hard tyres now to save our soft ones for tomorrow, for the power stage.”

Car 5, Hirvonen/Lehtinen
“The rears are really worn for sure, I really couldn’t do any better than that. I’ll just go flat out as long as the tyres last. That’s really all I can do.”

Car 7, Neuville/Gilsoul
“In this stage the car was working quite good and I was confident so I tried to push a bit. I tried to save myself a bit so I’ve got something left for tomorrow.”

Car 8, Hänninen/Tuominen
[with rear left tyre off the rim]“I hit the bank at the finish, I need to change the tyre. I don’t have many spare tyres.”

Car 9, Mikkelsen/ Markkula
“The power steering went. There’s a 30km stage coming up. I’m not entering the strong man competition you know?”

Car 12, Al Qassimi/ Patterson
“It’s quite different because there are good clean lines, but the shiny bits you can’t grip on them. On this stage there was a very small bit of water.”

Car 16, Solberg/Minor
“I tried my best, the car is working much better than before. I’m on hard tyres, I’m not sure if that’s right.”

Car 20, Sordo/Marti
“The soft tyres are too soft for this stage, it’s not so good. We’ll try like this, I think it’s too risky, but we’re trying.”

Car 21, Prokop/Tománek
“Now it was good for hard tyres, so no problem for us. We have just hards. The other guys, they all have really different tyres. It was a good stage for us.”

Car 35, Ketomaa/Lindstrom
“We needed to stop the car because the power steering stopped working, so I needed to restart the car to get it working again.”

Car 36, Barrable/Loudon
“We think we’re a lot closer to front now. We went on the hard tyres to keep a bit of stability on the hard stuff. But it’s not quite warm enough for them to work. The next stage is going to be a challenge.”

Car 38, Ahlin/Abrahamsen
“We went for hard tyres on this one, and they’re not working for me. We lost a lot of time.”

Car 40, Al-Attiyah/Bernacchini
“It’s okay, we tried to push. I don’t know what happened with Jari [Ketomaa]. We went with the hard tyre, it’s a lot better, a lot more confidence in the corners. It’s very, very close. We use all the lines.”

Car 42, Tidemand/Floene
“It’s going better and better. We’re just going like this, it’s good work from the team and everything. We will see how it will end up in the last section of the next day, we may push.”

Car 43, Sousa/Magalhães
“Not bad, we solved the problems from this morning. But I think we’re starting to lose some power on the car. We’re going to call service to see if there’s anything we can do. In the gears where the car should be more powerful there’s not much.”

Car 44, Maurin/Klinger
“Very good stage, we have made a good time. We tried to save tyre. We had a good time.”

Car 47, Al-Kuwari/ Duffy
“Not a lot of grip, we’re using hard tyres. Still a nice stage to learn on. We’re saving the soft tyres for tomorrow, for the short stages.”

Car 53, Domzala/ Przemyslaw
“It was a very nice stage, I was more confident compared to this morning because I’m getting more used to the car.”

Car 54, Riedemann/ Vanneste
“It was a very nice stage, in some parts it was a bit rough. Very happy to drive the car with the notes, they were perfect. It’s the best stage I’ve done so far.”

Car 58, Taylor/Taylor
“Still improving step-by-step, but I’ve made a step in the right direction.”

Car 59, Polykarpou/ Winter
“It was the first real test after this morning.”

Car 62, Fisher/Noble
“I’ve got a good gap of one minute, but I have to stay focused so I don’t make a mistake.”

Car 64, Cerny/ Kohout
“The second loop is easier, I know where I am and where I’m going.”

Car 65, Campedelli/ Fappani
“The team has changed the setup of the car, it’s the right way now. Everything is getting better.”

Car 70, Kruuda/Jäveoja
“This is exactly what I was looking for, but my expectations where higher. I really pushed, I was over the edge five or six times just then. I’m on completely soft tyres, so we’ll have to push where we can in the next stage, it will be very slippery.”
