Safety at VRP: a shared commitment
Adhering to the rules is essential to ensure the safety of spectators, drivers and the organisers.
Spectator safety is an absolute priority at the Vodafone Rally de Portugal. Along the route, there are designated spectator areas, marked in green, which offer the best conditions to watch the rally. All other areas are considered restricted, and it is essential to respect the signage in place to avoid risky situations.
Watching a rally means understanding that it is an unpredictable sport. Cars travel at high speed and any distraction or incorrect positioning can have serious consequences; therefore, spectators must always remain alert, position themselves in elevated and protected areas, and ensure they have enough space to move quickly if necessary.
It is important to follow all instructions given by the Vodafone Rally de Portugal organisation so that the event is experienced, above all, safely. On location, be aware of what you should and should not do:
NEVER:
- Go into restricted areas
- Walk on the stage
- Stand on the stage
- Position yourself below road level
- Stand in front of arrows or signs
- Remain in prohibited areas
- Stand on walls or fences
- Position yourself close to the edge of the stage
- Block emergency access routes
- Put your safety or that of the drivers at risk
- Be distracted
- Remove arrows or signs from the stage
- Walk on the stage within 30 minutes before the first car
ALWAYS:
- Watch the action from designated spectator areas
- Expect the unexpected
- Listen for approaching cars
- Ensure you have space to move quickly
- Stay alert
- Keep children safe and supervised
- Try to position yourself behind something solid and resistant
- Keep dogs on a lead
- Follow the instructions of marshals and authorities
- Help marshals ensure your safety and the safety of the stage
- Be in position at least 30 minutes before the first car
